Vitamin A Peel for Acne, Pigmentation, Sun Damage & Anti-aging.

Our Vitamin A peel is our most popular peel. It is quite different from a conventional chemical peel and is tolerated by most people. So what is a Vitamin A peel, and how can it improve your skin health and restore a healthy glow?

Vitamin A peels are beneficial for anti-aging and acne treatment (pimples and hormonal breakouts). In addition, they can be used for blocked pores, congestion, pigmentation, sun-damaged skin, keratosis pilaris and overall skin texture improvement. The chemical peel works by activating cell turnover to exfoliate the surface cells, helping unclog pores and lift pigmentation. Our Vitamin A peel is a retinoic acid peel, which we have compounded for clinic use as a medical peel.

Vitamin A Peel is Recommended For:

  • fine lines and wrinkles
  • aging skin concerns
  • pigmentation from melasma or sun damage
  • acne breakouts
  • enlarged pores & congestion
  • helps with blackhead extraction
  • keratosis pilaris
  • can help stretch marks.

What Does A Vitamin A Peel Involve?

Vitamin A peels are pain-free. Most people tolerate this except in cases of skin sensitivity. (People who have had reactions to vitamin A or glycolic peels are not good candidates.) In addition, you cannot have Vitamin A if you are pregnant or breastfeeding.

  • Your skin peels two to five days after. So it is best to get the peel Wednesday or Thursday before a quiet weekend.
  • You will also need to stop skincare for a week after treatment.

The Vitamin A Peel Procedure

Your face is first cleansed, and light microdermabrasion is performed to prepare the skin.
Our therapist or nurse massages the peel into your face. Then, a second application can be applied if necessary.

  • Your face will have a yellow glow afterwards, so you probably want to go home.
  • 6 to 10 hours after application, the peel is washed off.
  • The condition being addressed determines the number of treatments and the frequency. (monthly to 1/2 yearly).
  • The Vitamin A peel is affordable at $165.
  • There will be peeling developed 2-5 days later. (although this is generally fine flaking and not always obvious)
  • Results appear over the first to sixth week after treatment.

Gut Health and Weight Management

Your gut health plays an enormous role in your ability to manage your weight. The imbalance of the bacteria in your gut and the dominance of nasty bacteria set the foundation for chronic inflammation in the body. And chronic inflammation is the hallmark of weight gain and obesity and accelerated ageing, hormonal abnormalities, and inflammation in the brain.

It is now known that the gut microbiota plays a crucial role in regulating immune function and metabolic process, hormonal balance and brain function. Therefore, a healthy and diverse microbial community or essential for good health and vitality in forming new healthy habits.

The worse thing is that once you gain the extra inches around your middle, this increases inflammation in your body. It becomes a vicious circle of inflammation contributing to poor gut health, making it a continual uphill battle to lose the kilos. So how do you know if you have an imbalance in your gut microbiome?

An imbalance in the gut microbiome can cause diverse symptoms?

The gut microbiome can be disrupted by processed foods, certain medications, stress, age, hormonal abnormalities, and acute or chronic illness.  Disruption to the gut microbiota can cause a diverse range of symptoms such as:

Fatigue, Weight gain, Resistance to weight loss, Fluid retention, Cravings for food, Food intolerances, Brain fog, Allergies, Joint pain, Rashes and more!

Many of our clients find that weight gain and resistance to weight loss are the most frustrating because regardless of how little they eat or how much they exercise, their weight continues to rise.  This is because your body cannot effectively release stored fat – or keep it off – unless it is healthy. The longer these symptoms continue, the harder it may be to reverse them without some extra help.

We recommend seeing our Clinical Nutritionist| Naturopath Courtney White, who has a specific interest in gut health protocols and weight management. Book in for a free assessment to complete our skin-gut axis questionnaire or book directly with Courtney at the cost of $160 for the initial consultation.

Your Genes Are Not Your Destiny.

You Inherit Your Predisposition To Health: Each of us is made up of around 24000 genes that we inherited from our parents. You cannot change your genes, but you can change your gene expression. You can turn genes on and off. (up-regulate and down-regulate). An example of this in nature is bees. All bees have identical genetic material, but their environment & nutrition determine which genes are expressed. The queen bee in a hive becomes the queen because she is fed royal jelly. But all bees have roles workers, drones, nurses etc. It is the environment that determines which of their genes are expressed and who they become.

Human Genes Are Affected By Environment

Similarly, with humans changing the environment you and your genes live in. Nutrition, exercise, lifestyle changes and nutrigenomic treatments can change genetic potential, gene expression or provide cofactors to help your cell health.

However it turned out we only have around 24,000 genes. This is a few more than a chimpanzee or a mouse, but nothing spectacular. Even more surprisingly, scientists discovered that large parts of our genome is made up of DNA that doesn’t code for genes.

We offer nutrigenomic supplements in our Cell Logic range. Book an appointment with our Naturopath Courtney to find out more about this exciting new science and how it can benefit not only your gut health but also your skin.

Look Younger & Live Longer

Danish research has uncovered a remarkable fact in a study comparing twins. If you look younger, you live longer. The Reason For This? The study does not conclude this, and it could be like what came first, ‘the chicken or the egg?’

Happy, confident people live longer vs People With Stressful Unhealthy Lives Age Faster.

On the other hand, people who have stressful, hard, unhealthy lives age faster. For example, smoking is an unhealthy life choice that adds years to your face by creating free radicals, decreasing your blood’s oxygen, leading to more wrinkles. It also means you are more likely to die younger.

Stress also takes a large toll on aging; stress causes chronic inflammation in our skin and bodies. This not only makes us look older but can lead to disease.

5 Foods To Avoid For Younger Skin

The five foods that age your skin and you need to eat in moderation: Red meat, Unfermented dairy product, deep-fried food that contains saturated fate & Processed foods, foods made with white flour and sugar

Stay Away From White Foods

Avoid white bread, pasta, rice, and other refined grain products? They’re quickly broken down into the ultimate white food: SUGAR. This not only causes weight gain but also ages your face.

How Does Sugar Cause Wrinkles?

Once in the bloodstream, sugar binds with proteins and creates advanced glycation end products (aptly abbreviated AGEs), which cause collagen to become inflamed and stiff, leading to wrinkles.

Focus Your Diet On Whole Foods

Focus your diet instead on protein & vegetables. Simple, unprocessed whole foods will not only help keep unwanted fat away, but you will also have fewer wrinkles.

10 Anti- Aging Super Foods

Free radical damage is the primary cause of skin aging, so it is no surprise that most of the 10 superfoods are antioxidant-rich natural foods. The colour you see in food is the antioxidant nutrient vital to protect against wrinkle-causing free radicals.

Like the antioxidants you put on your skin, it is best to eat different colour groups to get your antioxidant cocktail. The darker green, red, yellow, orange, purple it is, you can be certain it will be better.

Other superfoods help in cellular repair and energy production and settling damaging cellular inflammation.

Sun Damage

Sun damage is the primary cause of wrinkling and facial ageing. This damage is cumulative: even small doses add up weekly, monthly, yearly to premature ageing. UV radiation from the sun damages collagen and elastin causes free radical production and skin inflammation and makes your skin cells behave abnormally.

  •  Cell turnover decreases causing a build-up of dead compacted skin cells.
  • The skin becomes duller, loses its youthful glow and becomes coarser and rougher.
  • Reduced collagen and damaged elastin result in fine lines and wrinkles and sagging of the skin.
  • Sun damage also causes abnormal pigmentation with clumps of pigment discolouring the surface

Skin Care Essentials To Treat Sun Damage & Ageing

2. Prescription retinoids can reverse photo ageing to give a more youthful appearance.

  • Retinoids increase cell turnover, decrease the build-up of dead compacted cells giving the skin a more youthful glow and smoother surface.
  • They stimulate collagen production and repair elastin to reduce the depth of wrinkles.
  • They decrease skin pigmentation to give a more even skin colour.

Genetics And Sun Damage

Looking at your parents and grandparents will tell you how your skin will age. Some people because of skin colour and other genetic factors are less vulnerable to sun damage and wrinkle formation.
Tip: no matter how good your genetics sun protection is essential to retard the progression of ageing.

No miracle ingredient will make sun damage & wrinkles disappear.

If you want to prevent and treat wrinkles, there are skin products and prescription treatments that will help with skin health and retard the progression of ageing. Other important factors are a healthy diet, sun protection, cessation of smoking.

Looking At Your Hands

When we think about the signs of ageing, most of us think first about our faces. However, one of the earliest signs of ageing is our hands. Hand aging is marked with loss of fatty tissue, increased visibility of veins, tendons, age spots and hand wrinkling.

Aging Hand Treatments

Dermal fillers replace volume which helps disguise the veins and tendons and decrease hand wrinkles. Laser, IPL and peels can help reduce the appearance of age spots and improve the skin texture.

Tear Trough Filler Brisbane, Under Eye Fillers

Tear troughs fillers or under-eye fillers are used to treat dark circles and eye bags. The tear trough develops under the eye from volume loss in the area. The face fat pads in youth gradually deflate and move south, leading to under-eye hollowing, the formation of dark circles and the appearance of under-eye bags. These factors combine to give a tired and more aged look.

Generally, this is a process that starts in the mid to late ’30s. However, some people have less fat, and the appearance of dark under-eye circles can appear earlier. Dark circles can also be caused by pigmentation in the area; under-eye fillers will not correct pigmentation. If the appearance of dark circles and under-eye bags are from volume loss, fillers can help lift and lessen the appearance. The skin in the tear trough area is quite thin, so care and experience are necessary to treat this area to achieve a good result.

What Are The Best Under Eye Fillers?

The best fillers for under eye treatment depend on what is happening with your face. A thick filler placed deeply is often the best approach and can be combined with cheek fillers. However, a more superficial fine filler is chosen depending on your skin and the fat around the eye. We offer an obligation-free assessment with our Doctor to discuss this and its suitability to your desired results.

Who Would Benefit from Tear Trough Fillers?

Tear trough fillers are a form of treatment for under-eye bags that are not ready for surgery. Not everyone is suitable for this non-surgical approach, and your suitability for this procedure in your free, no-obligation consultation. It also could be suitable for people that have the appearance of dark circles under the eye caused by volume loss and shadowing. The procedure is also an option for those who have a tired or drawn look due to the loss of natural volume in the under-eye area or people with under-eye wrinkles.

What Is Involved In Tear Trough Filler Treatment?

  • You need to allow up to an hour for the treatment.
  • A needle or cannula is used.
  • Surprisingly this treatment is not that painful as the skin around the eye is less sensitive than other facial areas.
  • There is no downtime after under-eye fillers. You can go back to work, though most people choose to get this at the end of the day so they can go home as we do not want you putting makeup on the area.
  • There can be redness and swelling after treatment, although this tends to be minimal.
  • The area around the eye is vascular, so there is a risk of bruising.

There is a small risk of more serious side effects, which our Doctors will go over fully in your free consultation. The risk of a small lump of the product being visible can be treated by massage or dissolved if persistent.

Over time and are caused by volume loss and changes in the mid-face region. Under eyes, puffiness or bags develop from weakness to the muscles under the eye area.

  • Under-eye filler treatment can lessen the shadow appearance of dark circles and generally improve the cosmetic appearance of puffiness or ‘under-eye bags’.
