Skin Tightening Brisbane | A Guide to Non-Surgical Skin Tightening
Our Doctors Consult for Collagen Biostimulators, PDO Threads, Tixel, HIFU & Laser Skin Tightening.
At Pearl Medispa Brisbane, we understand how changes in your skin, such as sagging, softening of facial contours, and crepey texture, can impact your appearance and confidence. These visible signs of ageing are often the result of declining collagen and elastin, the key structural proteins responsible for keeping skin firm, resilient, and lifted.
Our clinic offers a doctor-led approach to non-surgical skin tightening tailored to your needs. Whether you’re beginning to notice early skin laxity or seeking options for lifting and firming without downtime, our doctors provide complimentary consultations to help you make an informed decision. While HIFU and RF Skin Tightening are the most accepted treatments for skin tightening, they may not give consistent results across all skin types. A range of other treatments aim to stimulate collagen and elastin and promote improved skin firming.

Skin Tightening Aims for Firmer, Healthier-Looking Skin
No two skins are the same—and neither are the factors contributing to skin laxity. Genetics, sun exposure, hormonal changes, weight fluctuations, and even posture all influence how and where the skin begins to lose firmness. That’s why we start every journey with a thorough consultation to understand your unique skin concerns and treatment goals.
Following your assessment, your doctor may recommend a staged approach that includes one or a combination of therapies designed to support your skin’s natural regenerative functions over time.

1. Collagen Biostimulator Treatment Consultations (Doctors)
Collagen biostimulators are treatments designed to support the production of your body’s collagen over time. These treatments may help improve skin quality, firmness, and structure and are commonly considered for the face, jawline, neck, arms, abdomen, or décolletage.
- Biostimulators can stimulate both type I and type III collagen and are often used for:
- Sagging jowls
- Loose skin on the face, neck, or body
- General improvement in skin tone and resilience
Please note: A full consultation with our cosmetic doctors is required to assess your skin, discuss suitability, and explore your options.
2. Tixel Skin Tightening Treatment (Doctors)
Tixel is a thermo-mechanical fractional device used to rejuvenate and firm the skin with minimal discomfort and downtime. It is particularly effective for:
- Fine lines around the eyes and mouth
- Eyelid skin tightening
- Mild laxity on the face, neck, and décolletage
Tixel is well suited to delicate skin areas that are often difficult to treat with lasers or radiofrequency. It delivers a gentle collagen stimulation response to support smoother, firmer skin over time.
3. PDO Mono Threads (Doctors)
PDO (Polydioxanone) mono threads are ultra-fine, absorbable threads placed just beneath the skin to stimulate a collagen-producing response. This technique can help to firm and smooth areas of mild to moderate skin laxity, particularly in the:
- Lower face
- Jawline
- Neck
Lifting threads (used for skin redundancy) may also be considered. Our doctors often use PDO threads as part of a combined approach; we do not currently offer lifting threads.
4. CO₂ Laser Skin Tightening (Laser Therapist)
Fractional CO₂ laser treatments use focused light energy to promote controlled skin renewal and collagen production. They are beneficial for resurfacing sun-damaged skin but can produce mild skin tightening:
- Fine lines and wrinkles
- Sun-damaged or uneven skin texture
- Mild facial laxity
CO₂ laser resurfacing offers both mild tightening and textural benefits, often used in conjunction with other collagen-stimulating therapies as part of a staged rejuvenation plan.
5. HIFU Skin Tightening (Therapists)
HIFU (High-Intensity Focused Ultrasound) targets the deeper foundational layers of the skin. The ultrasound energy contracts collagen and may stimulate further production, making it a non-invasive option for:
- Sagging jowls
- Neck and jawline definition
- Mild abdominal or body laxity
The treatment creates a deep thermal effect that encourages lifting and firming over time without damaging the skin surface.
6. Rejuran May Help with Skin Tightening?
Rejuran is a skin rejuvenation treatment containing polynucleotides (PN)—fragments of DNA that may stimulate fibroblasts, the cells involved in collagen and elastin production. While not classified as a skin tightening treatment, Rejuran may contribute to a firmer-looking appearance by supporting overall skin health.
What Rejuran May Help With:
- Supporting collagen and elastin production, which may improve skin elasticity
- Enhancing skin hydration and texture, contributing to smoother, more resilient skin
- Assisting in skin repair, especially in delicate areas like under the eyes
7. RF Skin Tightening (Not currently available at Pearl)
Radiofrequency (RF) microneedling creates controlled micro-injuries while delivering thermal energy deep into the dermis. This combination may be suitable for:
- Sagging facial skin
- Fine lines and wrinkles
- Mild textural concerns due to ageing or sun exposure
While RF can be used on the body, we recommend it for facial rejuvenation.
8. Combining Skin Tightening Treatments for Enhanced Results
In many cases, combining treatments can enhance outcomes by targeting multiple layers of the skin. Popular combinations may include:
- Collagen biostimulators + PDO threads
- PDO threads + HIFU for a “Korean Thread Lift” effect
- Tixel + CO₂ laser for firming and resurfacing
- HIFU + RF Microneedling for deeper lifting and surface texture
These combinations are most effective for mild to moderate laxity, and our doctor will guide you on whether a layered approach is right for your skin condition.
Understanding Skin Laxity vs. Skin Redundancy
Skin Laxity
Refers to the gradual breakdown of collagen and elastin, leading to fine lines, wrinkles, crepey skin, and mild sagging. This is typically treated with therapies aimed at inducing collagen, such as:
- HIFU
- PDO Threads
- RF Skin Tightening
- CO₂ Laser
- Tixel
- Collagen Biostimulators
Skin Redundancy
It occurs when excess or stretched skin is often due to significant weight loss or advanced ageing. Surgical options such as a facelift or body lift may be more appropriate. However, some non-surgical modalities, like lifting threads or collagen biostimulators, may still be used to improve the skin’s appearance.
Skin Tightening for Skin Redundancy
For clients with more pronounced skin redundancy, our doctors may discuss the following treatment pathways:
- Surgical options (e.g., facelift or body lift) may be required in cases of advanced sagging
- Collagen Biostimulators—may offer gradual support for tissue density and firmness
- Thread Lifting—used selectively to reposition and support heavier tissue
Each approach creates a controlled response in the skin, encouraging collagen production and dermal remodelling.

Tixel Skin Tightening Brisbane
Gentle Yet Powerful Approach to Skin Rejuvenation
At Pearl Medispa Brisbane, our doctors offer Tixel skin tightening as a non-surgical solution for clients seeking to refresh and firm their skin. Tixel is a new generation technology that harnesses controlled heat to rejuvenate the skin, stimulate collagen, and soften the appearance of fine lines and laxity.
Tixel stands out for its versatility and suitability for delicate areas, including under the eyes, around the mouth, and across the neck and décolletage—where other energy-based devices may be too aggressive.
What Is Tixel Skin Tightening and How Does It Work?
Tixel is a thermomechanical fractional treatment that delivers heat directly into the upper layers of the skin using a precision-engineered titanium tip. Unlike lasers or radiofrequency, Tixel doesn’t rely on light or electrical energy. Instead, it uses direct thermal transfer, delivering controlled micro-injuries that prompt the skin to activate its natural healing and collagen-regenerating processes.
The tip briefly contacts the skin in a fractional pattern, creating tiny coagulation zones that stimulate new collagen formation, improve skin texture, and support gradual skin tightening. This method allows for effective resurfacing while preserving the skin barrier and reducing overall downtime.
Tixel skin tightening may be considered for:
- Fine lines and wrinkles around the eyes and mouth
- Crepey or lax skin on the eyelids, neck, or décolletage
- Enlarged pores and uneven skin texture
- Sun damage and pigmentation irregularities
- Early signs of skin laxity in sensitive areas
- Clients seeking skin tightening with minimal downtime
At Pearl Medispa, our doctors perform all Tixel skin tightening treatments. We take a personalised approach—tailoring the depth, intensity, and number of sessions based on your skin type, area of concern, and rejuvenation goals.
Key Benefits of Tixel Skin Tightening:
- Suitable for delicate and sensitive areas like eyelids
- Minimal discomfort and no anaesthetic are typically required
- Short recovery period (1–3 days of redness or dryness)
- It can be used safely across a range of skin types
- Promotes natural collagen production for ongoing improvement
What to Expect From Your Tixel Skin Tightening Treatment
Each Tixel session takes approximately 30–45 minutes. Due to the gentle nature of the treatment, numbing cream is rarely required, though it can be applied if preferred. During the treatment, you may feel a warm tingling or brief prickling sensation as the tip gently stamps across the skin.
Post-Treatment:
- Expect some redness and warmth, similar to mild sunburn, for 24–72 hours
- Light flaking or dryness may occur as the skin renews
- Most clients return to daily activities the next day
- Mineral makeup can be used 24 hours post-treatment if needed
- How Many Tixel Treatments Will I Need?
While many clients notice improvement after just one session, 3–4 treatments spaced 4–6 weeks apart are typically recommended for optimal results. The exact number of sessions will depend on your skin’s condition, age, and treatment goals. Maintenance treatments can also be scheduled periodically to support long-term skin health.
Tixel for Eye Skin Tightening
Tixel is one of the few skin rejuvenation treatments that can be safely and comfortably used on the upper and lower eyelids without needing protective eye shields. This makes it an ideal choice for treating:
- Fine lines around the eyes
- Upper eyelid creping or hooding
- Dark circles and under-eye skin texture
- Tixel eye treatments offer a non-surgical solution for those not ready for eyelid surgery or who prefer a low-downtime alternative.
- A solution for delicate areas like the eyelids or lips and as A gentler alternative to CO₂ laser or RF microneedling
Our doctors will assess your skin in detail to determine if Tixel skin tightening is appropriate for you and whether it may be best combined with other modalities—such as collagen biostimulators, PDO threads, or HIFU—for enhanced results.

PDO Mono Threads for Skin Tightening
Collagen-Supportive Threads for Skin Laxity
PDO threads target skin laxity to tighten and aim to improve skin quality by treating fine lines and wrinkles. In addition, some people get a lifting effect with the treatment (a bonus). Lifting threads are designed to treat skin redundancy and provide lifting.
PDO threads are ultra-fine, absorbable sutures placed within the dermis to create a controlled response that may support new collagen formation. Over time, this process may improve skin firmness, tone, and fine lines.
PDO thread skin tightening is Often considered for:
- Lower face and jawline refinement
- Delicate crepey skin on the cheeks and neck
- Mild to moderate lower face sagging
- Jawline (jowl) softening
- Cheek and neck laxity

Fractional CO₂ Laser Skin Tightening
Resurfacing with a Subtle Tightening Effect
Fractional CO₂ laser treatments deliver tiny columns of focused light energy into the skin, triggering renewal and regeneration while preserving surrounding tissue. While best known for resurfacing, CO2 laser skin tightening promotes dermal remodelling, possibly supporting firmer skin.
Laser skin tightening is considered for:
- More advanced signs of ageing and sun damage
- Fine lines, wrinkles, and texture irregularities
- Acne scarring and uneven pigmentation
Key features of CO2 laser skin tightening:
- Fractional delivery of CO2 laser skin tightening for improved recovery
- Mainly considered Resurfacing plus subtle firming effects
- It can be administered with precision
- Downtime may be 1-2 weeks.
We offer a fractional CO₂ laser for sun damage, extensive wrinkling, and acne scarring. The CO2 laser can be combined with Secret RF. Though CO2 laser treatments tighten skin, they are better suited for textural changes. Laser skin tightening is best performed with an ablative Erbium or CO2 laser. However, fractional laser treatments have primarily replaced them because they require a lot of downtime, healing, and scarring risk. Supporting skin firmness as part of a rejuvenation program
Treatment Overview:
- Requires topical numbing beforehand
- 5–10 days of downtime, depending on the intensity
- Results continue to improve over 6–12 weeks
- It can be combined with RF Microneedling for more profound collagen activation

Results appear around six weeks later and develop over three months (See optimising your outcomes below.) No. of Treatments for Optimal Results: Up to 4 is recommended (we provide package buys). Treatment lasts: Results are long-lasting; expect outcomes to last 2. CO2 laser skin tightening cost: $990 per complete face treatment. It can be combined with other skin-tightening treatments.
5. HIFU Skin Tightening (Ultherapy)
Non-Surgical High-Intensity Focused Ultrasound Lift for Face, Jawline & Neck or Body
HIFU uses focused ultrasound energy to target deep layers beneath the skin’s surface in skin-lifting procedures. This technology may stimulate collagen production in the foundational tissues, supporting natural skin firming over the following months.
HIFU skin tightening can be considered for:
- Softening along the jawline
- Mild neck laxity
- Brow support
- A non-invasive alternative to early lifting
Key features of HIFU skin tightening:
- No disruption to the skin surface
- Gradual tightening effect without downtime
- Requires a series of treatments, and annual or biannual top-up treatment.
HIFU Facial for Skin Tightening
There are a myriad of HIFU machines on the market. The best-known Ultherapy is also the most expensive for an HIFU facial because of the cost involved. As HIFU facial effects only last about one year, we thought it better to provide a more reasonably priced option.
How does HIFU tighten your skin? HIFU is a high-intensity ultrasound emitted onto your skin in small pulses. The ultrasound pulses are targeted to specific depths (3 mm and 4.5 mm on the face), heating these layers to remove the required controlled injury for new collagen production. HIFU became prominent with the Korean V Lift, a treatment combining HIFU facelifts with PDO threads.
Treatment Time: 60 minutes for HIFU facial Recovery: You can return to regular activity immediately. There is redness, swelling, tenderness, or bruising afterwards. Results: Observing takes -3 months (See optimising your outcomes below.) No. of Treatments for Optimal Results: 1 for mild sagging, 2-3 for moderate sagging. Treatment lasts up to 12 months with good home care. HIFU Skin Tightening Cost: Our HIFU facial treatment at Pearl Clinic is an affordable $700.
Is Rejuran a Skin Tightening Treatment?
Rejuran may help improve skin firmness over time through its regenerative effects. Still, it does not deliver the same targeted lifting effect as treatments such as HIFU, biostimulators, or RF microneedling, which act on deeper structural layers.
In summary:
- Rejuran may support firmer, more elastic skin as part of a skin rejuvenation plan.
- Its primary role is skin repair and regeneration, not lifting or contouring.g
- It may be especially beneficial in delicate or sensitive areas
- For more defined tightening, other treatments may be more suitable
- Rejuran can be part of a regenerative treatment plan with other skin tightening treatments.
RF Skin Tightening – RF bulk heating vs RF Microneedling
The original RF skin tightening was a facial that used radiofrequency to create bulk heating of facial skin tissue. HIFU has primarily replaced this older technology. Newer RF skin-tightening treatments include microneedling techniques such as Infini and Secret RF. Advanced radiofrequency modalities include inserting pins under the skin and then discharging radiofrequency energy deep into your skin. They are more commonly used for textural skin changes and are helpful for acne scar treatments and changes related to sun damage and ageing. In addition, radiofrequency microneedling is more appropriate for skin laxity with fine lines and wrinkles.
RF Thermal Bulk Heating for Firming and Toning
Radiofrequency (RF) skin tightening delivers controlled heat to the deeper dermal layers, helping to support the natural regeneration of collagen and elastin. It’s often seen as an early sign of laxity or part of a maintenance plan. Radiofrequency skin tightening is considered for:
- Subtle laxity in the lower face, neck or décolletage
- Clients are looking for non-invasive, no-downtime options.
- Key features of RF skin tightening:
- This is generally a painful Treatment with minimal disruption and may improve elasticity and overall tone
Can be used as a prejuvenation treatment; however, because of the pain involved, treatment outcomes are less predictable.
RF Microneedling Skin Tightening (Secret RF)
Targeting Texture, Tone & Laxity
RF microneedling combines the collagen-inducing effects of traditional microneedling with radiofrequency energy for deeper stimulation. Tiny needles create microchannels in the skin, while RF energy is delivered at controlled depths to target laxity, lines, and uneven tone.
Microneedling RF skin tightening:
- Fine lines around the eyes, mouth, and neck
- Uneven skin texture and sun damage
- A firming boost which may have some minor resurfacing benefit
- Key features of RF skin tightening with microneedling:
How Does RF Skin Tightening Work?
Radiofrequency skin tightening works by heating the deeper layers of the skin. The handpiece is applied to the skin, and the needles penetrate a specific depth before the radiofrequency signal is discharged. Once again, this controlled injury signals your skin to mount a healing and repair response, producing collagen, elastin, and hyaluronic acid. Radiofrequency provides skin tightening but is more appropriate for skin texture concerns. Although RF is ideal for treating wrinkles, lines, acne scars, and photoaging, it is not our top pick for skin tightening.
Treatment Time: 45 minutes (plus 30 minutes for numbing before treatment). Recovery: You can return to regular activity immediately. Expect redness and swelling afterwards. A delicate grid pattern remains on your face for up to 2 weeks. Results: Observing takes 2-3 months (See optimising your outcomes below.) No. of Treatments: Course four is generally recommended (we provide package buys). Treatment lasts: Results are long-lasting; expect outcomes to last up to two years. RF Skin Tightening Cost: $795 per treatment. It can be combined with fractional CO₂ laser treatment.
Combination Therapies for Skin Tightening
A combination approach may be recommended for many clients to address multiple skin concerns across different tissue layers. For example:
- HIFU skin tightening may be used to target foundational support
- PDO threads can reinforce superficial firmness
- Tixel or Secret RF skin tightening may refine texture and tone
- Collagen biostimulators may support long-term collagen renewal across all layers of skin.
Each treatment modality contributes in its way, and our doctor will help you understand treatments that align with your goals and skin capacity.
Please note: Individual results from combined treatments will vary depending on your skin type, treatment consistency, and lifestyle.
Skin Tightening Treatment for Skin Sagging
- Collagen Biostimulator (Cosmetic Doctor)
- Tixel Skin Treatment
- PDO Mono Threads (Cosmetic Doctor )
- HIFU Skin Tightening
- RF Skin tightening
- Rejuran Injections for Skin Tightening
- Laser Skin Tightening
- Combination Treatments
Skin Tightening for Skin Redundancy
- Surgery: Facelift, Body Lift
- Collagen Biostimulator
- Thread Lifting
The above treatments aim to stimulate your skin to produce more collagen by creating a controlled injury so your skin mounts a healing response. The new collagen may improve the quality of your skin and firm and tighten it. The treatments, however, have a different mode of action.
- Biostimulators can stimulate type 3 and type 1 collagen. They can treat loose skin on the body and sagging jowls, tighten face and neck, and address any sagging skin.
- HIFU uses ultrasound to contract collagen, and heat-induced collagen stimulation is beneficial for sagging jowls, neck tightening, and tummy tightening.
- RF skin tightening uses radiofrequency microneedling, creating a cone of skin injury. Therefore, it is more suitable for sagging skin on the face. Though RF can be applied to the body, other methods are preferred and are used to tighten the skin on the face.
- Lasers convert light into a high-energy beam to tighten loose skin on the face.
- PDO threads are tiny dissolvable threads inserted under the skin and used to tighten facial, neck, and loose skin.
- Lifting threads are more for skin redundancy than skin laxity, and our cosmetic doctors generally use them as a second-line treatment after biostimulating fillers.
Combining treatments may give better results, e.g., biostimulators combined with lifting threads, PDO threads, and HIFU for a Korean thread lift. All of these treatments are indicated for mild to moderately saggy skin. More severe sagging surgical lifting may be an option.
What to Expect: Realistic Results, Gradual Change
Skin tightening is a process—not an instant transformation. Each of your treatments works by creating a controlled response in the skin, encouraging the body to repair, regenerate, and remodel collagen over time.
Most clients notice:
- A lifting or firming effect after several weeks
- Improvements in tone and texture over several months
- Long-term benefits when part of a consistent skin health plan
- Downtime and sensation vary depending on the treatment, but Pearl’s options are designed to integrate easily into your lifestyle.
